I can't remember the last time I read a biography that is as engrossing as this one. Ms. Reisen does a superb job of distilling a lot of information into a compact paragraph; she also beautifully weaves in all kinds of juicy excerpts from diaries, letters, and Louisa's fiction throughout the book. You grow to feel as though you know the Alcott family intimately and have a better understanding of the world they inhabited. Thank you Ms. Reisen for this beautiful work.
